About to Choose a New Program. . . .

The question is, which one? RootsMagic or Legacy. I have narrowed it down to those two. I have a trial of RM on my computer, and I have been working with Legacy 7 for a while. I'm thinking it is a little harder than it needs to be. But it does offer choices of everything. Do I need to make that many choices? RM seems friendly and appealing. It doesn't make me tense to play with it.
What ever choice I make is the one I will be sticking with. So it has to be good. This is the year. I want to have my choice made and my order in by the last of the month.
NO MORE FTM. I don't know what direction they are going, but it is definitely not my way. So far on Facebook I have had 3 for RM and 2 for Legacy. One voted for The Master Genealogist. I don't know anything about that one.

    RootsMagic! If you buy version 3 right now, then when version 4 comes out, you'll get a free upgrade.

    Hi Sheri,

    I use Legacy (started on 6, upgraded to 7 the day it came out). I honestly can't imagine using anything else. I downloaded every program I could find that was either free/shareware or trial. Legacy suited my need the best. It has it's quirks, like any program, but nothing major (although I think the new sourcing tool still needs some work). I don't remember if I tried RM, so I can't compare the two.

    I have TMG and don't much care for it. I've never tried Legacy or Rootsmagic but I've heard good things about both. I just switched to FTM2008 and find myself very frustrated so I will probably be looking for something else this year too.

    I'm a RootsMagic user, and happy as can be. I also can't compare, as I haven't used the other choices on your list.

    I have used genealogy software for 20+ years, since DOS days, and I'm very happy with my choice of RootsMagic. I does what I need done, so to speak.
