Dad's Quilt

My dad wanted me to make him a quilt. We poured over books and patterns, discussed color schemes and fabrics. He finally chose the "Maple Leaf" pattern which I put on point. He wanted a scrappy quilt in more blues and fall-like colors. He loved the quilt when it was finished. I gave it to him in 2000. I took the photo above a couple months ago. My step-mother returned it to me when he passed away in 2006.

    what a gorgeous and tremendously complicated looking quilt!! I have just started my first quilt and have only just finished putting together the top row of a block and am very excited about the whole thing!! I do hope that one day I will be able to put something like your lovely quilt together and give it to my Dad!

    I remember my first quilt. I just couldn't wait to get it done! It will be worth it, I promise, Sam.
    Make sure you sign and date every quilt you make. I didn't in the beginning and I am sorry about that now.

    What a striking design and great colours. I'm not a quilter but I love to look at them, especially older ones or ones like yours with their own stories - made for someone special.
