Grandpa's Pen - Artifact

My grandfather, Jim Jaynes, was a self-employed plumber.  As a child I would watch him work at his desk with the most wonderful pen.  It is a fountain pen.  I kept it because I was so curious about it as a child.  Now, the bladder inside has turned to dust.  It certainly needs some help to make it work again.  I'm not even sure that can be done.  But it rests on my desk as it did on his for so long.

What was it about fountain pens that was so fascinating? My brother used to have them all the time when I was growing up and for some reason, I just loved them! How special it is that you have such a wonderful memory associated with yours.

Great pen; especially since it was your grandfather's. There is a small industry that deals with vintage pen repairs. I found an interesting article here:

I agree with Lori ... I don't know what it as about fountain pens that is so fascinating! I began my love affair with fountain pens a hundred years ago when I was a junior in high school and it continues to this day. I love writing thank you notes or signing cards with my Waterman fountain pen! And how special is it that you have your grandfather's pen?

I am nominating Twig Talk for the One Lovely Blog Award. Congratulations. Please stop by my blog page and pick up your award. I love your creativity in your writing and your displays.
